Nature First
Nature First promotes the protection and preservation of wild natural places around the globe.
By inspiring, educating, and raising awareness, the initiative encourages everyone photographing or filming outdoors to become ambassadors for nature.
Nature First Principles Overview
Nature First is built on a set of core principles that help communicate how each of us can enjoy nature photography responsibly. The Nature First Principles were developed to help educate and guide both professional and recreational photographers in sustainable, minimal impact practices that will help preserve nature's beautiful locations. Learn more about the Principles.
The Nature First Principles
- Prioritize the well-being of nature over photography.
- Educate yourself about the places you photograph.
- Reflect on the possible impact of your actions.
- Use discretion if sharing locations.
- Know and follow rules and regulations.
- Always follow Leave No Trace principles and strive to leave places better than you found them.
- Actively promote and educate others about these principles.
Why I'm part of it
I'm a member of Nature First because I believe that responsible and respectful behavior is essential in nature photography. Especially in fragile environments, I see it as a duty to leave no trace – but to bring awareness instead.
